Unanimity Is With The Flow On Two City Council Votes Tonight

Claremont City Council members voted on two water system acquisition related issues tonight. The first vote was to decline unanimously Golden State Water offer to enter into a 20 point memorandum of understanding between the city and GSW. This vote of no confidence effectively for all practical purposes invalidates the same MOU signed between the CAWA group and Golden State. The Mayor did form an adhoc group that will continue to meet with GSW on water issues related to the acquisition - so the door is still open. The second vote, which was also unanimous, was to infuse the acquisition effort with $1,010,500 to address water related issues and defend the city from a CEQA challenge and two other legal suits with money on up to February of 2015.

ClaremontFLOW members were out and at the podium in force tonight. Two CAWA members spoke up and gave their piece. And for such a so-called important MOU no GSW staff even showed up making it hard for anyone to take the MOU seriously.
